The
Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties
Union serves the counties of: Westchester,
Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster.

It is a part of the New York Civil Liberties Union,
which is the NY State affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union.

LHVCLU was organized in 1962, as the Westchester Civil Liberties Union,
and has been actively supporting the Constitutional Rights of the people
of our area for over four decades.

THE FACES OF LIBERTY
Faces of Liberty is a traveling photo-journal
exhibit documenting the cases of New Yorkers who stood tall for
their rights and for the principles of civil liberties. Here are
the people, young and old, from across the state of New York, who
would not let authority pull controversial books from
their libraries, or tell them to take a sign off their lawn, or
sweep them up for fingerprinting because of their race.
And here are the stories of how those people, with the help of the
Civil Liberties Union, vindicated the Constitutional rights of all
of us and reminded authority that the Bill of Rights
is law that applies to everybody. |
